Former Massachusetts Coach Killed in Tragic Bicycle Accident.

John Kurty, 86, of Westfield, Massachusetts, was killed in a  tragic bicycle accident on Tuesday, November 6 at 2 PM.

Authorities say that Kurty was riding his bicycle on Tuesday afternoon near Westfield State University when he was struck by a Chevrolet pickup. Kurty suffered fatal injuries as a result of the bicycle crash.

Kurty was well known in the area, having been inducted to the Westfield State Athletics Hall of Fame in 1994 for his work as a golf, volleyball, soccer and baseball coach at Westfield State University from the mid-60s to 1988.

Police are currently investigating the truck crash incident, and no charges have been filed at this time.
