41 year-old Paul Lin, of Irvine, California, was killed in a bicycle accident that took place on the night of Wednesday, November 6, 2013. The bike crash occurred at the intersection of San Joaquin Hills Road and Marguerite Avenue in Newport Beach, California.
Newport Beach Police established that the bicycle accident took place in the late evening hours. Lin was riding his bicycle northbound on Marguerite Avenue. He was turning westbound onto San Joaquin Hills Road. At that moment, Lin was mowed down by an unidentified driver who was traveling westbound on San Joaquin Hills Road. The driver did not stop the vehicle or lend any assistance to Lin after the bicycle crash.
After emergency medical services arrived at the scene of the accident, paramedics attempted to revive Lin, but to no avail. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the bicycle accident.
Newport Beach Police have issued a statement requesting that the public come forward with any information that may lead the police to the vehicle and the driver who was responsible for the bicycle accident. The accident comes at a time when the Newport Beach community is outraged by a spat of hit-and-run accidents, in which bicyclists have been the victims.
