Jim Healy, a 55 year-old technology teacher at the Sunnyside High School and father of three, from Fresno, California, was killed this past Tuesday morning. At that time, a Jeep Wrangler attempted to pass his cycling group and struck his bicycle.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wrongful death bike accident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. on March 5. Police say that Healy directed his bike into the path of the Jeep, as if to navigate a U-turn, when the two collided.
Healy was transported to the Community Regional Medical Center emergency room, where he was shortly pronounced dead.
The police have yet to reveal whether criminal charges will be filed against the driver of the Jeep that struck Healy’s bicycle.
